Roman numerals are still everywhere: movie credits, book chapters, clock faces, Super Bowl numbers. Understanding them is genuinely useful.
The Conversion Trick
The basic symbols are I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1000). Add them together, except when a smaller number comes before a larger one - then you subtract. Easy, right?
For big numbers, converters are a lifesaver. No one wants to manually convert 1987 to MCMLXXXVII!
