Americans measure in pounds and ounces, most of the world uses grams and kilograms. Converting between them is constant.

1 kilogram is about 2.2 pounds. 1 pound is about 454 grams. And an ounce? About 28 grams. The numbers don't line up nicely at all!

For cooking, I use a converter to figure out exact gram measurements. My scale shows grams, recipes sometimes say ounces. Problem solved!
